finisma

finisma turns ordinary PDF invoices into legally compliant German e-invoices. Upload a PDF and finisma reads the invoice data, lets you review every field, and embeds the structured XML into a PDF/A-3 file (ZUGFeRD/Factur-X, EN 16931). For public-sector customers it also generates XRechnung 3.0. Every file is validated against the official rulesets (KoSIT, veraPDF) before download, and received e-invoices can be checked and displayed in a human-readable view.

For automation, the subscription includes a REST API and an MCP server for AI agents: send a PDF plus structured invoice data as JSON from your ERP, invoicing tool or workflow (n8n, FileMaker, custom scripts) and get a compliant e-invoice back in seconds. No local libraries, no plugin maintenance, no keeping up with changing standards. Attachments such as timesheets can be embedded directly into the e-invoice, and a payments module turns invoices into SEPA payment files (pain.001) and international payment orders.

The converter is free to use with a watermark. The subscription costs 8 euros per month plus VAT, is cancellable monthly and covers watermark-free invoices, attachments and full API access. Privacy by design: invoice files are processed temporarily and deleted automatically, and sensitive values like names or bank details are never stored in a database. Built in Hamburg, Germany.
